100th new poultry house for Moy Park

Moy Park’s ‘Plan to Grow’ programme has hit a significant milestone with construction beginning on the 100th new poultry house since the launch of the programme last year. Moy Park grower, Clive Marshall has commenced build on a new two-house site on his Dungannon farm. Moy Park, Northern Ireland’s largest food company, launched its broiler expansion programme, ‘Plan to Grow’ as part of the overall business’s strategic plans to grow its fresh locally farmed chicken supply for its UK and Ireland customers. The programme has since gone from strength to strength with over 250 new poultry houses expected to be under construction by the end of 2015. Clive Marshall’s new higher-welfare broiler site is currently in the construction stage, with birds expected to be housed early in the New Year. Mr Marshall said: “This is my first venture into poultry farming; I am currently a part time beef farmer with my father. I’ve always had a keen interest in farming and wanted to expand the existing farm business. I felt this opportunity with Moy Park was the perfect first step in making farming a long-term career for me.” David Gibson, Moy Park Director of Agriculture commented: “We are delighted to have reached this fantastic milestone and the success of the ‘Plan to Grow’ programme has been highlighted through this build. We currently work with over 600 of the very best local poultry farmers, who employ the highest standards on their farms and we are very proud to be developing our farming base in Northern Ireland.’’ Moy Park operates a unique integrated business model which provides support in the building of new houses and also provides the opportunity for a profitable and sustainable long term return in a growing market.
